Wally De Backer, known by his stage name Gotye (pronounced GOH-tee-yay), has been receiving a significant amount of hype recently for his single “Somebody That I Used to Know” featuring Kimbra. The Belgian and Australian native has made many radio and television appearances, and even inspired a naked body-paint appearance from SNL’s Andy Samberg and Taran Killam.
Gotye’s latest album Making Mirrors, released last August, includes thoughtful lyrics backed by refreshingly original instrumentals and unique samples. His third track off the album, “Eyes Wide Open,” features an interesting blend of rhythms and sounds produced by the Winton Musical Fence somewhere in the Australian outback.

And of course, Gotye doesn’t dissappoint with his bizarre and dystopian animated music video.
